Parts of the World Only Livable With Air Conditioners

Air conditioning is something that many people take for granted these days, just expecting to have it at all times and feeling appalled when they do not get it. Others cite that humans have lived on the Earth for a long time and have only had air conditioning in very recent years, claiming that it is not something that we need but that we choose to have. There are places where people literally could not live without air conditioning, however. Some of them, even, have people living in them. This sounds like a contradiction, but the thing to keep in mind is that there are deaths every year in these places from heat strokes and the like, so, while it is technically possible to live without an air conditioning unit, it is not advisable.

Death Valley

This valley has gotten its name for a reason. The scorching sun and the hot desert air can sometimes reach temperatures of up to one hundred and thirty-four degrees Fahrenheit. This is located in the western part of America, in Nevada and California. While people travel through this area all the time, not many choose to make it their home. The land is low and flat; the white sand looks as if it has had all of the life bleached out of it by the merciless sun.

El Azizia

This desert is located in Libya, in Northern Africa. It has recorded temperatures that are even higher than those found in Death Valley, temperatures reaching up to one hundred and fifty degrees Fahrenheit. This is an astounding number, something that would make the area completely uninhabitable if the temperatures stayed at those levels all of the time. They do flux quite a bit, however, though this is part of the problem. The drastic changes can be what is so hard on the human body.

Mali and Tunisia

These places are said to be some of the hottest in the world with constant, stable populations. They reach one hundred and thirty degrees Fahrenheit on a regular basis, a level that can really sap your strength and make it hard to move. This is where many of the deaths from heat-related illnesses are found. The problem is that air conditioning here is something that only the richest people can afford. Most people are left to search for shade and water in the sweltering sun.

Conclusion

While it can be said that people do not have to have air conditioning to survive as a whole, it can be seen that an air conditioning unit can help a person’s chances of survival within these regions. Without the right system and plenty of water, these areas can be quite dangerous indeed.
