Sales Consulting Fees
Sales consultants are paid to help advise other businesses or individuals in specific areas of expertise. They can help in areas of sales, personal relations, business image, and production just to name a few. Consultants aren’t paid for the labor that they do as much as the knowledge that they have and their ability to pass their knowledge on to their clients. When a business takes on a consultant, the consultant has a contract with the client and establishes the fees to be charged. These fees can be charged by the hour, the day, the project, or by performance.
Sales Consulting By The Hour
Many consultants who charge by the hour will either double or triple their hourly wage. This means that they calculate how much money they would be making if they were working for someone else, including the benefits they would receive, and they double or triple that amount. Many consultants choose to triple the hourly wage, due to what’s called the rule of three. One third goes to their real wage, one third to expenses, and the last third to what is called “bad debt.” Bad debt comes from those clients who only pay partial amounts, or they never pay at all.
Sales Consulting By The Day
Sometimes, consultants charge by the day or the half-day, rather than by the hour. Consultants still use the same calculations explained above to make sure that they are being paid enough to cover their wages, expenses, and bad debt. Rather than calculating on how much they would be making per hour, they extend it to how much they would be making per day.
Sales Consulting By The Project
Consultants can charge by the projects that they complete. When setting sales outsourcing fees according to project, consultants can estimate their fees in one of two ways: they can charge according to how many hours they estimate that the project will take to complete, or they can charge according to how valuable to information is that the consultant can provide. Sales consultants who reconstruct the inner workings of the business may wish to charge by this method due to the fact that the business will see results for years to come.
Sales Consulting By Performance
Consultants can also charge by performance. This is by far one of the riskiest methods of charging, but it’s one that many clients push for. Businesses will offer to pay the consultant in business shares or commissions based on future returns. However, some of the changes implemented might take months to bring in any revenue, or businesses might not implement the changes. If charging by performance is necessary, establish a base pay on top of commission in order to still receive some revenue.
