How To Choose A Good Vacuum Cleaner

What to think about

Vacuums come in many different types. Varying in size, shape, and features. Knowing what to look for will save much confusion. When looking for a new vacuum, there are three major issues to consider : the size of your space, the cleaning capability, and the different types of features. Although it may not seem important, choosing the right vacuum from the beginning can help save time, money, and help sustain the life of your home.

Your space

The size of your home and storage space plays an important role in which vacuum is best for you. If you live in a smaller home or are short on storage space, then looking into a hand held or small canister vacuum is probably best for you. While if you live in a larger home or have adequate storage space, then you should consider a large canister or upright vacuum. However, if you live in a large space, but very little is carpeted, then a small to medium canister may better fit your needs. While if you live in a smaller space, but have a lot of carpet, then you may want a larger canister or upright vacuum. It all depends on what your space needs. If you play your cards right you can get a vacuum that’s about the same size as air purifiers.

Your cleaning needs

Think about how often you clean. If you will be using the vacuum frequently then you will want one to invest in a more powerful vacuum. While if you only use your machine once or twice a month then have a little less power would not be a huge loss. Remember that pets and children will add to the cleaning power you will need. If you do have pets and children you may want to look into vacuums with features specifically made for larger and tougher messes.

Features and attachments

Not as important as your space or cleaning needs, you still need to consider the features and attachments of your vacuum. For smaller spaces, consider folding handles or collapsible hoses. For shedding pets or small children, consider a vacuum with a power boost button for spot treatments and attachments for hair and heavy soiled areas. Consider the basic options. Would you prefer bags or bagless? If you have allergies you may want to consider filters that are hypoallergenic. Would it be more convenient for you to have a cordless, or a corded vacuum? There are also hundreds of attachments for the smaller cleaning jobs. Look carefully at what they are used for and consider whether or not you’d actually need them. Not only do you never want to spend money on attachments you don’t need, you don’t want to miss out on an attachment that would benefit you.

An additional feature that some people don’t always think about, is what happens when you get a lot of dust and pollen stirred up by your vaccuum? That’s when it’s a good idea to have a HEPA air purifier cleaning up after your clean up.
