Fix Blender Problems Yourself
Blenders get used very hard and because of this they are made to last for many years. Over time or with heavy use, even the most durable blender can need to be repaired. Rather than throwing out the blender or pay excessive amounts for the work to be done, there are several things that one can do at home to easily fix a broken blender.
The simplest and most basic thing to fix would be a leaky blender. A rubber o-ring or gasket is used to keep the seal on the blender pitcher tight. Over time, this can deteriorate and crack. This will allow water to escape from the pitcher. These are inexpensive and simple to replace. The only consideration would be that the part needs to be the correct size to ensure a proper fit.
With many years of use, the blades of the blender can become damaged or worn. Replacing the blades can breathe new life into the blender. As with the o-rings, it is essential that the blades be the correct size and style. Depending on the manufacturer, there may be options to purchase different types of blades. By getting several blades and using the right one for the right job, these will certainly last for a good while.
If the blender does not respond properly to the buttons being pushed, a simple cleaning my remedy this problem. Over time, food and dirt can easily accumulate around the buttons. Because of this, it is important to clean the blender completely after every use. If a thorough cleaning needs to be done, the area around the buttons needs to be worked on. There may be a cover that is on top of the buttons. This may be removed simply by taking out the screws that hold the cover. The owner’s manual may or may not have information about cleaning the buttons. Newer blenders may not have raised buttons, but a touch pad that do not get dirty and clogged.
Finally, a blender motor can malfunction or stop working when there is heavy use. Many inexpensive blenders are able to blend at high speeds but may not be able to handle blending difficult items or hard items such as ice. Before getting rid of the blender due to the motor, a check on the fuse would be wise. Sometimes, the fuse of the machine may blow. A simple replacement with a new fuse will solve this. If this is not the problem, the blender may still be under warranty and can be replaced free of charge. If not, it may be time for a new blender.
There are a number of blender problems that can be fixed easily at home before spending money on a repair or a new appliance.
