Maintaining Spa Filters

Many Americans purchase spas as a way to enjoy a relaxing soak after a tough day. However, these luxurious hot tubs require regular maintenance. This maintenance includes keeping up with spa filters. For different types of spas, a person may use a different type of filter. Depending on this type of filter, a person may need to take special precautions in taking care of their spa.

For most spas, owners will use a cartridge. When using this type of filter, people need to take a special amount of precaution. While these filters are common, they do not always do a good job of cleaning oils and smaller debris. For the most part, these filters can handle most larger-sized particles, but may require some help with smaller pieces. To fix these problems, a spa owner may use special treatments that can cause these smaller particles to stick together. This can allow the filter to pick these particles up.

Sand filters are also fairly common. These filters run the spa water through the filter, allowing the sand and gravel to pick out debris. The clean water will then work its way back into the spa. Like with cartridge filters, sand filters may require some additional assistance in trapping particles that would otherwise slip through the sand.
